The 2022 “BET HIP HOP AWARDS” PREMIERES TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4
The biggest night in hip hop is back for its 17th year! The BET Hip Hop Awards return for the 2022 award show season and is set to air on BET Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Filming live a few days prior on September 30 from the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, GA, the show will be hosted by GRAMMY nominated rapper Fat Joe. The annual celebration will bring together the hottest names in hip hop to pay homage to the best in hip hop culture. Recently the official nominees for the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards have been announced.
Drake leads this year’s nominations with an impressive fourteen nominations including ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ twice for ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse,’ three for ‘Best Collaboration,’ twice for ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ and twice for ‘Song of the Year.’ Kanye West follows with 10 nods including ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Producer of the Year,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ ‘Best Collaboration,’ Song of the Year,’ ‘Impact Track,’ and ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse’. Kendrick Lamar’s nine nods include ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year.’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ twice for ‘Impact Track.’ ‘Video Director of the Year,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ and ‘Best Collaboration.’ Future rounds out the top four with an impressive eight nods. Baby Keem, Cardi B, and J. Cole are tied, with each earning six nods.
Other notable nominations include Doja Cat, Latto, Lil Durk, Tems, and Young Thug, each of whom received three nominations. Benny The Butcher, City Girls, Fivio Foreign, Glorilla, Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Nas, and Usher received two nominations each.

As with every year of the awards, they have always given a special honor to an artist who has transcended time and have made a major impact in the industry. This year, the Diamond Princess Trina will be the recipient of the 2022 “I Am Hip Hop” Award.
Hip Hop’s biggest night continues its legacy of recognizing history-making trailblazers by celebrating 30 years of the iconic LOUD Records and pioneering founder Steve Rifkind at the “BET HIP HOP AWARDS” 2022. Performances to commemorate the legendary label include David Banner featuring Lil’ Flip, Dead Prez, Fat Joe, Mobb Deep with Lil’ Kim, M.O.P., Remy Ma, Three 6 Mafia, and Wu-Tang Clan.
