Ok folks, so it’s happening, and coming waaaaay sooner than most of us probably wanted. Yep, we’re talking about the 2017 Inauguration for the new President Elect. We’ve heard the many stories about how it’s been almost impossible for his team to find anyone to want to perform at his Inauguration celebrations, which is quite sad. Just because artists don’t want to support HIM, does not mean that they will not be present in the Nation’s Capital for that weekend.
In some news that we just found about, local restaurant Busboys and Poets will be hosting an alternate event that same weekend titled the Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Reistance, which will be a gathering to celebrate the accomplishments and successes of the past 4 years and the vow to continue to be the change we want to see in the world. The event will take place on January 19th over at the newly opened Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, with some pretty heavy weight people being invited.
The guest list of dignitaries, speakers, artist, cultural figures and activist is long and will all draw from a pool of people who support the cause to fight the good fight. One of the newest performers to be added to the bill was Solange, who we know has had a standout year. Other people you can expect to see are Angela Davis, Alice Walker, Danny Glover, Esperanza Spalding, Van Jones, and others.
Unfortunately tickets have sold out to this event, so if you were not lucky enough to grab them, then we’re sorry that you missed out.
