September 28, 2017 felt somewhat like the mid 1990’s all over again when one of the biggest rap groups from the decade made their triumphant return to the Charm City.
Bones Thugs-N-Harmony brought their brand of Cleveland based hip-hop to the Baltimore Soundstage for night of fast paced rhymes and nothing but straight bars. The show got off to a start with a few local rappers who are making some waves in the city, such as Guy Grams, Eva Rhymes, MC Bravado and Donnie Breeze. It’s not easy being an opening act for a group who has more than 25 years in the industry, but they each held their own.
Before BTnH hit the stage, they showed some family love when their homegrown group Mo Thugs came out to keep the crowd warmed up and ready for what they were about to experience.
Approximately at 10:10 PM, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, & Wish Bone each individually ran on stage for a solo moment before getting into their breakout 1994 hit “Thuggish Ruggish Bone”. Noticeably missing from the group was one of the most hype members, Bizzy Bone. Granted he wasn’t there on stage, the show must, and did go on.
For about an hour, they breezed through not only all of their singles, but also a lot of tracks from other artists that they were featured on. This was another show that made me feel great to be raised in the 90’s, because even FEATURES back then were insanely hot.
They closed out with their most well known hit “Tha Crossroads“, which obviously had the whole entire audience singing along.
