The DMV is a place known for having a diverse musical taste, so it was no surprise when local production company LSS Universal decided to bring something a little bit different to the area in terms of a concert.
The early show on March 11th saw the stage set for “church on Saturday” when the season 4 winner of BET’s Sunday’s Best Amber Bullock brought her unique soulfulness, and allllll of those runs to the Arena Stage in Washington, DC. Fans and music lovers alike came in tow, dressed to the nine’s as if they were going to a Sunday service to experience this concert.
Before Ms. Bullock came to the stage, we had the pleasure and opportunity to be introduced to four other gospel music artists, who all left us feeling more spiritually connected before we arrived. Jason Paul, Brittney Wright, and Clifton Ross III were opening acts, but the feeling was more like family by the way they all embraced the next act with an acknowledgement of their brother or sister in Christ before they left the stage.
No time was wasted as acts did transition, and before we knew it, it was time for the headlining woman to take the stage. St.Louis native Amber Bullock walked out and showed us exactly WHY she had taken home the top prize on the “American Idol of gospel music”. Albeit she may be labeled as a gospel artist, she let the audience know that she’s way more than just that once she decided to remix a few songs into a more jazzy type flow, which gave everyone an even more bigger appreciation for her talents. Towards the end of her set, she even did an a cappella version of Richard Smallwood’s “Total Praise”. The service, I mean concert ended with some church announcements which kept the good vibes from the show going as everyone exited the venue.
After the show, she was gracious enough to take a few minutes out of her schedule to sit down and talk with Concert Daily, so be on the look out for that interview really soon on our Youtube channel.
Check out some pictures and video of her and the other acts who were on the bill below.
