Getting into the Holiday spirit has not been the easiest this year due to the weather not being a clear indicator that, we were most definitely in the Fall and Winter months. Then, Thanksgiving came and kind of smacked everyone in the face as a reminder of the upcoming Christmas Holiday and New Year’s needed preparations. Now, everyone has finally caught up and we are seeing the beautiful lights hanging on houses and decorated trees sparkling in windows. So, it only makes sense to musically enhance the holiday spirit as well.
Thankfully for many, on Tuesday Raheem Devaughn with some of his incredibly talented friends gave us early Christmas presents through song. With a packed crowd and many wearing the infamous holiday colors: Red, Green, Gold and Silver, everyone cheered as this holiday Concert blew their minds, artist after artist.
This event’s most important purpose was to bring the gift of giving in the form of charity, through two wonderfully generous foundations who are both serious blessings to many: the Raheem Devaughn “Love Life Foundation” and also through the “Aids Health Care Foundation”. The official name of this annual event is: “Raheem Devaughn & Friends Annual Holiday Charity Concert”, and so much love was abundantly shown by several top artists who came out to show their support for these important causes. Raheem Devaughn even received a surprise donation from the extremely talented Diva herself, Ms. Kelly Price, who gave his foundation a $2,500 check through her foundation Look 2 Live.
Artists that participated in this are: Chantil Dukart, who nicely and soulfully warmed the stage up. Chaz Sheppard, who literally wrote and produced the songs he created specifically for this event. V. Bozeman who serves up amazing vocals and stylish looks every time. Tweet, who is always soulfully graceful and has such a smooth vocal delivery, she is known as the Southern Hummingbird. Ro James, who’s swag and rawness make you feel his vocals and draw you in. Kelly Price, who can literally saaannnggg anything with her amazingly blessed voice. Chrisette Michele, who is a rare jewel of greatness vocally, intellectually and with an overall stunning presence. Black Alley, who always leaves it all on the stage, giving their all, each time. The Crossrhodes= Wes Felton x Raheem Devaughn, who individually and together possess a strong legacy of great artistry and valuable knowledge based music, which makes their messages profound, relatable and catchy. Wale, who has always and will always be about his city, and Rare Essence who really delivers a high level of essence as they show out for their city deemed the wickedest band. It is with a huge smile and excitement that we here at Concert Daily proudly can say that each artist did awesome jobs as they played significant roles in captivating the hearts of the audience and power behind these foundation’s impacts.
This was a celebration because it’s the season to be jolly and to give a lot of love. It was bigger than a Christmas song or a decoration. This event brought out the strength of the hearts behind donating and providing gifts. It’s something about the holiday season that makes every person dig deep inside to self evaluate and ask yourself: “What can I do to give back this year?” It definitely brings out the light and positivity we all have inside, despite our own fight against life trials and tribulations. Giving actually can heal your troubles because the act itself soothes your spirit. When you stand amongst a crowed atmosphere and you can witness many letting go of all inhibitions and embracing the moment that is bigger than them, it is a very special exchange of humility. They say great energy can turn anything around and Raheem has found the perfect way to tap into that. It says a lot about him to be so genuine and giving and make a great cause come to life with the sincere goal of helping as many people as possible through unforeseen life obstacles.
To understand Raheem Devaughn’s value is to know of his humble beginnings as an artist. To love Raheem Devaughn’s contributions as a humanitarian, is to get yourself very familiar with his Love Life Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that is committed to raising awareness & funds for Domestic Violence, Education, Homelessness, Mental Illness, Autism, Cancer, Music & Arts, and HIV & AIDS. The selfless act of Raheem doing this Holiday Charity event, as well as actively hitting the pavement to get this endless task done, is a clear front seat view of his passion and care for others. So, he deserves to be respected and praised for a job well done! Also, round of applause to Radio One who came out to represent, bringing Radio Hosts “Deja Perez” and “Asia” to host show, and DJ Rico and DJ Quicksilva, for always keeping the party going strong. The effort from everyone was noticed, effective, and right on time. Concert Daily is already looking forward to the next annual event.
